About Us

Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen is a family-owned restaurant in Wilmington, NC. When Chef/Owner Chris Lubben and his wife Kristin opened Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen in October of 2007, a lifelong dream was fulfilled.

Chef Lubben is a 1995 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Upon graduation, he was recruited by the Palm Restaurant, where he remained for two years. Lubben and his family relocated to North Carolina over ten years ago to be near family, and, since then, he has held positions at various upscale restaurants in the southeastern area of the state.

Chef Lubben and Kristin have two children, and the whole family is very active in the greater Wilmington area. “We do our best to keep our focus local. Since we’re a small business, we realize how important it is to strengthen ties within local networks as much as possible. For instance, we’ve participated in Soup for the Troops, and we also support local artists by displaying their work in Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen,” says Kristin.

Since Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen is family-owned and -operated, Chris, Kristin, or one of their sons can be found there at any given time. This allows for a more personal atmosphere at the restaurant. “We strive to cater to everyone’s needs,” Kristin says. “Chris is always happy to adjust his recipes for people who have allergies and who are vegetarian or vegan. We’ve been told by many customers that this is the reason they keep coming back.”
